Arrive at Costa Rica’s International Airport (SJO)
Arrive at Costa Rica’s Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO) Our team of professional, bilingual drivers will meet you and your group and take you to the luxurious Cariari DoubleTree by Hilton just minutes from the airport (15) and Costa Rica’s Capital city. This lovely hotel features a large swimming pool with swim up bar, casino and a gourmet restaurant with a lovely view of Costa Rica’s central valley mountains range. (Note: first night stay in San Jose, meals and domestic airfare is not included in the package price)
Inshore/Offshore Day 1
After a quick orientation by our fishing director and an update on recent fishing activity, you can pick your pleasure – inshore or offshore – conventional or on the fly. Our 700 foot private pier is only a five minute walk from your room and is home to Central America’s largest private fishing fleet of Boston Whalers and Strike Yacht tower boats. Our boats are outfitted with top of the line fishing gear and you will be accompanied by professional, English speaking crew (captain and mate). Daily fishing includes lunch, snacks, soft drinks, beer, gear and fishing license.
Inshore/Offshore Day 2
If your first day was spent offshore hunting for billfish, we encourage you to take a day inshore and pursue the roosterfish, snapper and the multitude of other species that can be found cruising the volcanic shoreline. Other inshore species include African pompano, Bluefin trevally and grouper. Make sure to check the daily catch boards to see where the action is! Most of our captains grew up in the area and will have a good idea of which areas have been the best chances of being productive on any given day.
Fishing Day 3
Now that you’ve experienced inshore and offshore fishing, it’s up to you how to spend your day! Staff from our fishing department will visit you each night around dinner time to see how your day was, address any concerns and to plan your next days trip. Our Boston Whalers and Strike tower boats go inshore or offshore, so spend the day doing either one or a little of both. Enjoy your third fishing day!
Fishing Day 4
Enjoy a fourth day of fishing at the resort with your experienced, bilingual crew and high performance gear. Did you know that the resort is located at the edge of one of only four tropical fjord systems in the world? Reaching depths of nearly a mile in the center, this pristine region is also visited by whale sharks, and migratory humpback whales that visit from both the northern and southern hemispheres. This was reportedly one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite place in the world to explore!
Fishing Day 5
This is one of the worlds top billfish destinations. Peak sailfish season runs from January to April – July and August (and November – December) are historically good months to target blue, black and striped marlin but these offshore beasts can be caught any day of the year. One of the thrills of fishing Costa Rica’s pristine South Pacific coast is you just never know what is pulling on the other end of that line! Enjoy your fifth day of Costa Rica fishing!
Costa Rica Fishing at the resort is world-class with catch and release bill fishing in the Pacific Ocean for sailfish, striped, blue and black marlin, dorado, tuna and wahoo.
Fishing in Costa Rica’s Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf) for roosterfish, cubera snapper, jack crevalle, bluefin trevally, sierra mackerel, tripletail, and grouper is excellent throughout the year.
Day 7
Departure or Extra Day
Some anglers like to extend their trips with an extra day of inshore or offshore fishing. Additional Days may also be added for our new guided Kayak Fishing trips and shore casting (or you may enjoy a visit to our spa or explore one of 30 eco adventure tours). Anglers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Talk to one of our team members about including an extra free day just in case you just aren’t ready to call it quits! In any case, after this amazing adventure we’re sure you’ll be refreshed and ready to return home until your next visit.
